Rainer Saks served as Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, he worked in the Estonian government as Director General of the Estonian Information Board (now the Foreign Intelligence Service). He has also been Director of the Office of the President of the Republic of Estonia and National Security Coordinator at the Government Office of the Republic of Estonia.
At the turn of the millennium, Rainer Saks was an advisor to Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.
Since the beginning of Russia’s aggression, Rainer Saks has been writing daily overviews of Russia’s war against Ukraine. A year ago, he joined the PractNet team as an expert and participates in the Moldova advisory project and works at the Cyber Policy Center at the University of Tartu.
