Jüri Saska is a former naval officer with over 32 years of service in the Estonian Navy. From 2017 to 2024, he served as Commander of the Estonian Navy (Commodore), responsible for naval development, organizational reforms, and long-term strategic direction.

Under his leadership, the Estonian Navy and the Police and Border Guard Board’s fleets were merged, the Navy’s Vision 2030+ was created, and a joint Baltic Sea capability development strategy was initiated, which was approved in 2022. He has previously served as commander of the Navy fleet, chief of staff, head of the operations and planning department, and commander of the naval base.

Jüri Saskal has extensive practical experience both at sea and in international headquarters, including NATO structures. He speaks Estonian, English, Swedish, and Russian and has a wide international network in the defence and industrial sectors.
